The Federation Of Italy Fashion Industries And The Trade Union Signed A Protocol For Safeguards.
After a long negotiation, Italy Fashion Industry Federation (Co) Nfindustria Moda) has signed a security guarantee agreement with the trade union organizations in Italy with the aim of restarting the fashion and textile supply chain that has been shut down since the end of March.
The Protocol signed by the Federation of Italy fashion industries and the various trade union organizations across the country (Femca-Cisl, Filctem-Cgil and Uiltec-Uil), based on the laws and regulations of the health authorities, followed the strictest health and safety standards, requiring enterprises to invest a large amount of resources to ensure the health and safety of their production base.
Some of the requirements include: employees must work staggering, enterprises must ensure adequate number of masks; personal protective measures are recommended on the way to work; meetings and internal activities will be cancelled; the poor travel at the enterprise level should also be minimized; all protective devices must be provided without ensuring the safe distance between workers.
Claudio Marenzi, chairman of Italy Fashion Industry Federation and President of Herno group, said: "it is urgent to resume work, and 50% of Italy's enterprises are facing the risk of bankruptcy, especially small and medium-sized enterprises."
Although the agreement has been signed, the resumption of work still requires the approval of the Italy government. Earlier, Italy's prime minister Conte announced that the blockade would be extended until May 2nd.
Marenzi said that the downtime of the fashion industry meant hundreds of thousands of people lost their income and tens of billions of euros in tax revenue. Italy's fashion industry chain includes more than 6.5 companies, employing over 580 thousand employees, with a total turnover of more than 95 billion euros. Every small and medium-sized stoppage is likely to be replaced by foreign competitors. The blockade has caused incalculable losses to the main contributors to the second major manufacturing and trade surpluses in Italy.
Filctem Cgil trade union secretary So NIA Paoloni said that the protocol strengthened the relationship between Italy Federation of fashion industries and major trade unions and laid the foundation for the subsequent industry protection and restart policy document. In such a period of uncertainty at the moment, despite the difficulties, moving forward hand in hand is the right way to restart the economic system and protect the manufacturing industry in Italy.
