The Expansion Of The Costa Rican Agreement In China

Chinese Mainland Ministry of Commerce On August 1, 2011, the "mainland China Costa Rica free trade agreement" was released through the friendly consultation and written confirmation between China and Costa Rica, which came into force on August 1, 2011, and the tenth FTA reached and implemented in mainland China.


The head of the international division of the Ministry of Commerce of China said that the China FTA agreement covers a wide range of fields and a relatively high level of openness. In the field of cargo trade, starting from August 1, 2011, China and Costa Rica will move together into the "zero tariff era". More than 60% of their products will enjoy zero tariff treatment immediately, and about 30% of the products will enjoy zero tariff treatment in 5 to 15 years.


Through mutual tax cuts, products from both countries will be more competitive in the other market. Chinese mainland enterprises will be able to expand their market share in Costa Rica and the Central American market with the help of the China Columbia free trade agreement, especially the textile materials and products, light industry, machinery, electrical equipment, vegetables, fruits, automobiles, chemicals, raw fur and so on. Leatherwear And many other products will be more competitive when entering the Costa Rican market.


For ordinary consumers, the FTA will enable people to enjoy foreign goods at a lower price. For example, apple juice in mainland China can enter the Costa Rican market in the near future without paying 15% of customs duties, and the import tariffs on coffee in mainland China will be reduced to zero in 10 years.


In the field of service trade, China and Costa Rica have further opened the service market to each other in the FTA and reduced entry restrictions. According to the person in charge, since August 1, 2011, mainland China will be better than Costa Rica in telecommunications services, business services, construction, real estate, distribution, education, environment, computer and tourism services.
